Wind Farms

Environmental & Technical Studies

Our team has specialized expertise in the preparation and support of environmental and technical studies for wind farms, fully addressing all requirements arising from the current Greek institutional and regulatory framework governing Renewable Energy projects.

The development of wind energy projects is approached through a systematic and multi-parameter methodology, starting with site suitability assessment and spatial evaluation, and extending through environmental permitting, construction, operation, and final project restoration.

Our consulting philosophy is founded on the integration of environmental, geological, spatial, and technical data, with the primary objectives of ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing permitting uncertainties, and facilitating a smooth transition from project design to implementation.

Environmental Permitting of Wind Farms

We undertake the complete cycle of preparation and technical support of environmental permitting dossiers for wind energy projects, in accordance with the applicable environmental licensing framework and the RES project classification (Group 10), including:

  • Environmental Impact Studies (EIS) for Category A1 and A2 wind farm projects

  • Compliance with Standard Environmental Commitments (SEC), where applicable

  • Amendments and updates to Environmental Terms Approval Decisions (ETAD)

  • Electronic management and monitoring of permitting files through the Electronic Environmental Registry (EER)

  • Documented technical support during the public consultation process

Particular emphasis is placed on spatial analysis, compatibility with special spatial planning frameworks, and the completeness of environmental documentation accompanying each dossier.

Specialized Environmental & Spatial Studies

Due to their nature, scale, and siting characteristics, wind energy projects are accompanied by specialized studies that often determine the outcome of the permitting process:

  • Appropriate Assessment / Ecological Evaluation for Natura 2000 areas

  • Ornithological and chiropterological studies (birds and bats)

  • Operational noise impact assessments

  • Landscape, visibility, and visual impact studies

  • Shadow flicker assessments

  • Stormwater management and erosion control studies

  • Construction and Operation Environmental Management Plans (CEMP / OEMP)

  • Decommissioning and final site restoration plans

These studies are tailored to the specific characteristics of each installation site and are fully integrated into the environmental permitting dossier.

Geological – Geotechnical & Technical Studies for Wind Energy Projects

Our team has substantial experience in geological and geotechnical investigations related to the installation of wind turbines and associated infrastructure works, including:

  • Geological and geotechnical investigations of soil and slopes

  • Wind turbine foundation design studies

  • Access road alignment and construction studies

  • Excavation, embankment, and site grading studies

  • Slope and ground stabilization studies

  • Landscaping and site restoration studies

The design of technical solutions consistently ensures full compliance with the approved environmental terms and the geomorphological characteristics of the project area.

Health & Safety – Construction Site Studies

For the safe construction and operation of wind energy projects, we prepare comprehensive Health and Safety documentation in accordance with applicable legislation, including:

  • Health and Safety Plan (HSP)

  • Health and Safety File (HSF)

  • Occupational risk assessment and preventive measures for construction and maintenance activities

Integrated Consulting Management of Wind Energy Projects

The combined experience and interdisciplinary composition of our team enable the comprehensive management of wind energy projects with technical completeness, regulatory consistency, and strict compliance with the applicable legal framework, ensuring a smooth and progressive transition from project design to construction and operation.
